Jordan Sands operates with the spirit of giving and reinvesting in the Greater Mankato area and beyond. As a testament to our commitment to our community, Coughlan Companies donates between 5% and 9% of pre-tax earnings to the community every year.
Jordan Sands Community Fund created a new scholarship with South Central College. The Scholarship began in the Fall of 2014 and will be an annual scholarship of $2,500 to the Mechatronics Engineering Technology program at the North Mankato Campus of South Central College. The scholarship will be payable to the recipient over two semesters in the amount of $1,250 per semester. An internship program specifically designated for SCC mechatronic students began in 2015.
Jordan Sands is a proud sponsor of this one-day, one-of-a-kind stationary bike race with proceeds from the event benefiting Partners for Affordable Housing (PAH), Mankato, MN. PAH provides shelter for homeless families and individuals, and helps them to secure economically viable long-term housing.
More than 20 employees from Coughlan Companies participated in this great holiday event for Mankato families. They decorated a float, walked in the parade and handed out over 300 books to local children in extreme cold weather.
Coughlan Companies has agreed to donate $500,000 over ten years to the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. The donation is a combination of cash and in-kind donation of Stone for the Quarry Zone Exhibit. The Children’s Museum is located in the old City of Mankato’s Mass Transit Building in Mankato. The museum is open and ready to expand young minds!
Coughlan Companies has been a driving force behind the United Way Books for Kids program. Starting in 2013, the program received over $471,000 in support from Coughlan Companies. Every year Jordan Sands along with Capstone and Coughlan rally their employees to donate to the United Way, this fund raiser has been a great success and will be for years to come!
Each year over the last 10 years, Coughlan Companies has supplied 10,000 books to the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation’s annual Bookstart program. This program helps organizations in SMIF’s 20-county region distribute books and literacy programming directly to local young children.
The Holiday Sharing Tree provides gifts to those in need, handicapped, and elderly shut-ins in Blue Earth and Nicollet counties. Coughlan Companies employees have purchased gifts for at least 30 people in need each year.
Each year, Coughlan Companies partners with more than 250 organizations by providing book donations, sponsorships, and volunteer time. Each employee receives 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer at his/her favorite nonprofit organization. In 2013 alone, our employees volunteered more than 400 hours.
